Plasma Pen Therapy
As skin ages it does not produce as much collagen, which results in skin that appears comparatively deflated, less firm and can sag. Research indicates that by the age of 40, the body’s ability to produce collagen decreases by 25% and by age 60, it has decreased by over 50%.
Plasma Fibroblast Therapy (PFT) is used to stimulate the skin to improve its tone and texture, giving it a brighter and more contoured appearance. The process also tightens sagging skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and deeper wrinkles.
Plasma Pen is one of the safest and most effective methods of multi-plasma, non-surgical skin rejuvenation. This technology works by producing a small precision arc of ionised gas just above the skin which tightens the skin without major burns, only leaving a carbon crust on the skin after treatment.
Oveo plasma pen treatment works to tighten the skin and improve skin quality by:
- Instantly tightening the superficial dermis through a non-scarring thermal contracture
- Accelerating collagen and elastin synthesis as well as augmenting the synthesis of other extracellular components within the skin
- Stimulation of fibroblasts within the skin to produce more collagen, resulting in:
- The reduction of fine lines, wrinkles, and skin folds
- Improvement of the skin’s elasticity and suppleness
- Improved hydration of the skin
What areas can be treated?
Almost any area of the body may be treated using Oveo PFT (see below), though it is uniquely able to treat the upper eyelids and areas surrounding the eyes, areas which traditionally could only be treated with surgical procedures.
PFT was originally devised as an eyelid treatment and remains the only anti-ageing face treatment to date that can be safely performed on the eyelids to tighten the eyelid skin, other than a surgical procedure. It can also be used on a wide variety of other areas including those listed below.
Non-exhaustive list of potential treatment areas:
- Eyelids
- Under eyes
- ‘Crow’s feet’
- Jawline
- Perioral area
- Chin
- Nasolabial lines (nose to mouth)
- Marionette lines (mouth to chin)
- Neck
- Many other body areas including the abdomen, hands, arms, legs etc.
Oveo PFT can also be used to treat stretch marks, scars, and for the removal of some skin tags.
Results can be seen after just one treatment though for very lax skin, a second treatment is sometimes required to get the desired results. Our doctor will discuss this with you at your consultation.
What happens if I choose to proceed?
If you chose to have Oveo Plasma Treatment, you will have:
- A face-to-face consultation with our doctor
- The opportunity to ask questions and discuss any concerns
- Photographs of the treatment areas before treatment
- Numbing cream applied to your chosen treatment area(s)
- The treatment area cleaned and treated by our doctor using the Oveo plasma pen
- The plasma arcs create very specific thermal burns which causes instant tightening of the skin
- The small thermal burns will crust over and fall away over the following 5-7 days. Small pink dots will remain for several weeks after treatment
- Some localised swelling will occur which usually peaks over the 48-72 hours after treatment, and will normally have completely settled by day 7
- The skin will be noticeably tightened immediately after treatment though the stimulatory process is only just beginning and will continue over the following 3 months
- Results typically last for 2-3 years after a single treatment
- If an additional treatment is required, this can be performed after 3 months
Does the treatment hurt?
Plasma pen therapy is expertly administered to deliver very small specialised thermal burns to the skin. For this reason, our doctor will always use a numbing cream to limit the discomfort. Most find the sensation to be a mild discomfort during the treatment and a feeling similar to a mild sunburn in the hours after. The application of ice packs can help post treatment.
How will I look after the treatment?
Immediately after Oveo plasma pen therapy there will be numerous small plasma burns on the surface of the skin and the surrounding areas will be red and mildly inflamed. Depending on the area treated, the degree of swelling will vary greatly. The tissues around the eyes typically experience the most significant swelling, which typically resolves by around 72 hours post treatment.
The plasma burns crust over in the hours after treatment and typically fall away after around 5-7 days. It is vital that these are not scratched off and left to come away of their own volition to achieve the best results and avoid scars.
Application of a cool pack for a few hours after treatment or an antihistamine can help reduce swelling. Results are apparent immediately though the full results are not fully appreciated until 2-3 months after.
VERY IMPORTANT – The treated areas will be very apparent, and if these are on your face, or an area which is not covered, they will be overtly noticeable for the first 5-7 days, and less so, though still visible, for some time after. Please consider the timing of your treatment with regards to social engagements and work commitments etc.
