Filler
Dermal filler is a product used to correct volume loss, reduce the appearance of fine lines or augment volume. Dermal filler is a sterile solution of Hyaluronic acid (HA) gel which is injected into the affected area. HA is found naturally in your body and is broken down by your body over time.
What happens if I choose to proceed?
If you chose to have dermal fillers, you will have:
- A face to face consultation with our doctor
- The opportunity to ask questions and discuss any concerns
- Photographs of the proposed treatment areas before treatment
- Numbing cream applied
- Your chosen dermal filler injections
- A recap of aftercare and the opportunity to ask any questions again
You will also receive written aftercare advice and follow-up appointment to review your fillers in 1-2 weeks.
Do the injections hurt?
Most patients find the injections only cause mild, temporary discomfort. We use a local anaesthetic cream to minimize discomfort during the procedure. This will be applied for around 15-20 minutes prior to injecting unless you chose not to have this.
How will I look after the treatment?
Immediately after the injection there may be mild swelling which usually subsides within 24-48 hours. Application of a cool pack for a few hours after treatment, arnica cream or an antihistamine can help reduce swelling or bruising. The full result will not be assessable until 2 weeks after treatment; you will be offered a review of your treatment at approximately this time.
How many treatments will I need?
After 1-2 weeks additional filler can be safely added if required at review.
Repeat treatments are usually administered every 6-9 months (This depends on individuals and your lifestyle - your doctor will discuss with you).
